Owners Nissan X-Trail T30 (2000–2007 model years) sooner or later face the need to check or replace fuses. The operation of all electrical equipment, from headlights to the ignition system, depends on their serviceability. However, finding the exact fuse box diagram for this model is not so easy: manuals often lack details, and universal instructions do not take into account the specific features of the configuration.
In this article we have collected current fuse diagrams for all versions X-Trail T30 (including restyling 2004), indicating ratings, critical circuits and typical problems. You will learn where the block is physically located, how to properly remove the fuse without damaging it, and what to do if the problem does not go away after replacing it. Particular emphasis is placed on differences between gasoline (2.0/2.5 l) and diesel (2.2 l) modifications - this is critical for diagnosis.
Where is the fuse box located in the Nissan X-Trail T30
B Nissan X-Trail T30 provided two main fuse boxes:
- 🔧 Main unit — located in the cabin, under the instrument panel on the driver’s side. To gain access, open the driver's door and remove the plastic cover (it is secured with two latches).
- ⚡ Additional block — located in the engine compartment, next to the battery (only for versions with a diesel engine YD22DDTi).
The photo below shows the exact location of the main block (click to enlarge):
Note: In cars from 2005–2007, the block cover may have a different color (gray instead of black), but the design remains identical. If you cannot find the unit, check to see if there is a mat or additional equipment (such as an alarm) blocking it.
⚠️ Attention: Do not confuse the fuse box with the relay box! Relay in X-Trail T30 located separately - they are installed on a metal plate to the right of the fuse box (if viewed in the direction of travel).

Features of fuses in diesel versions (2.2 l YD22DDTi)
Diesel modifications Nissan X-Trail T30 have additional fuse box under the hood, which is responsible for:
- 🔥 Pre-heating system (fuse
F1, 30A). - ⚡ High pressure fuel pump (fuse
F3, 20A). - 🚗 EGR valve (fuse
F5, 10A).
In addition, in the passenger compartment of diesel versions the fuse #8 (15A) protects glow plugs - if it burns out, the engine will have difficulty starting when cold. Also pay attention to the fuse #25 (10A), responsible for fuel pressure sensor. Its malfunction may lead to an error P0190.
⚠️ Attention: In diesel X-Trail T30 after 2005 fuse F2 (20A) in the engine compartment is responsible for turbine. When it burns out, the engine goes into emergency mode with limited speed.
What should I do if the turbine fuse blows again?
If the fuse F2 burns out again after replacement, the reason may lie in:
- short circuit in the turbine wiring harness (check the insulation);
- malfunction of the wastegate valve (a common problem for diesel engines with mileage >150 thousand km);
- failure of the turbine actuator (diagnostics required at a service station).
How to properly replace a fuse: step-by-step instructions
Replacing the fuse in Nissan X-Trail T30 requires care so as not to damage the contacts of the unit. Follow this algorithm:
- Turn off the ignition and remove the key from the lock. This will prevent short circuit.
- Remove the unit cover — to do this, press the latches on the sides and pull it towards you.
- Find the faulty fuse. Visually check the filament (if it is broken, the fuse has blown). You can also use a multimeter in dialing mode.
- Remove the fuse special tongs (they are usually attached to the inside of the block cover). If you don't have tongs, use tweezers, but do not use metal objects to avoid shorting the contacts.
- Install a new fuse the same denomination. Never use fuses with a large amperage - this may lead to a fire in the wiring!
Ignition off|
Tools: pliers/tweezers, multimeter (optional)|
New fuse of the same rating|
Flashlight for illuminating the block (if necessary) -->
If the fuse blows again after replacement, this indicates short circuit in the chain. In this case:
- Check wiring for damage to insulation.
- Disconnect consumers connected to this circuit (for example, a radio or additional lighting).
- Contact an auto electrician for diagnosis.
Typical problems and their causes
Owners Nissan X-Trail T30 often encounter repeated faults related to fuses. Here are the most common cases:
| Symptom | Possible fuse | Cause of malfunction |
|---|---|---|
| Power windows don't work | #18 (25A) |
Short circuit in the window lift motor or control unit |
| Low beam does not light (one headlight) | #11 (10A) or #12 (10A) |
Short circuit in lamp or wiring |
| Cigarette lighter doesn't work | #10 (7.5A) |
Using devices with power >120 W |
| Central locking fails | #22 (15A) |
Malfunction of the door actuator or control unit |
Particular attention should be paid to the fuse #6 (10A), which protects immobilizer. If it burns out, the car may not start, and the indicator on the dashboard will flash KEY. In this case:
- Check the chip key contacts.
- Make sure there are no foreign objects in the ignition switch.
- If the problem persists, diagnostics of the immobilizer antenna is required.
Before replacing the fuse #10 (cigarette lighter) check to see if a coin or other metal object has fallen into the socket. This is a common cause of short circuit.

When purchasing, pay attention to denomination (indicated on the fuse housing) and quality of contacts. Cheap Chinese fuses may have poor contact, which leads to heating and melting of the block.
⚠️ Attention: Do not buy fuses marked "bug" or "universal". They do not provide adequate protection and may cause a fire!
For Nissan X-Trail T30 the best choice is brand fuses Hella, Bosch or Valeo. They guarantee stable contact and compliance with the declared value.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Is it possible to use a fuse with a higher rating if you don’t have the right one on hand?
No! This is extremely dangerous. The fuse is designed for a certain current, and if you set, for example, 20A instead of 10A, this can lead to overheating of wiring and even fire. As a last resort, temporarily use a fuse with smaller rating (eg 7.5A instead of 10A), but replace it with the correct one as soon as possible.
Why does the cigarette lighter fuse blow immediately after replacement?
This indicates short circuit in the chain. Common reasons:
- Metal objects getting into the cigarette lighter socket.
- Damage to the insulation of the wire going to the 12V outlet.
- Malfunction of the cigarette lighter itself (short circuit inside the mechanism).
Before replacing a fuse, inspect the socket for foreign objects and test the circuit with a multimeter.
How to check a fuse without a multimeter?
There are two ways:
- Visual inspection: Take out the fuse and look at the light - if the thread inside is broken, it has burned out.
- Replacing with a known good one: Temporarily install a fuse of the same rating from another circuit (for example, from the clearance circuit) and check if the equipment works.
Where can I download the full fuse diagram for my version of the X-Trail T30?

What should I do if, after replacing the fuse, the equipment still does not work?
Possible reasons:
- The equipment itself is faulty (for example, a lamp or motor).
- The problem is with the relay that controls this circuit.
- Broken wire or oxidation of contacts.
- Control unit malfunction (e.g. BCM or ECU).
To diagnose, you will need a multimeter or contact an auto electrician.
